Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Game & Fish Department
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Game & Fish Department welcomes visitors who wish to hunt and fish within the boundaries of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation. The Nation encompasses approximately 1.6 million acres across North Dakota and South Dakota and provides visitors with opportunities to enjoy its natural resources and outdoor recreation.
All individuals who wish to hunt on Tribal lands are required to obtain a valid hunting license issued by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe prior to engaging in any hunting activities.
The Department recognizes that there may be confusion regarding the laws and regulations governing hunting within the Standing Rock Sioux Nation. We would like to provide the following clarification: Tribal law governs hunting activities conducted on Tribal lands. Anyone wishing to hunt on Tribal lands must obtain and possess the appropriate Tribal hunting license.
The authority to regulate hunting on Tribal lands rests with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Accordingly, hunters must comply with applicable Tribal laws and regulations and obtain the required Tribal license, regardless of information or guidance they may receive from state authorities.
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Game & Fish Department appreciates your cooperation and respect for Tribal laws and regulations. We welcome visitors who wish to responsibly enjoy the hunting and fishing opportunities available throughout the Standing Rock Sioux Nation.
