Dog Training Information

The Standing Rock Reservation offers an exceptional setting for professional dog trainers. With abundant populations of grouse, partridge, and pheasants, the Reservation provides excellent opportunities for upland game dog training throughout the season.

Training Permit Requirements

A Dog Training Permit is required for all training activities and may be purchased by contacting the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Game & Fish Department at 701-854-7236.

Permit Fees

  • Trainer: $500
  • Team: $750 — limited to 10 dogs
  • Helper: $25
  • Braces: $5 per dog

Training Season

July 1 – October 1

Important Regulations

  • A maximum of 10 dogs per license is permitted.
  • Dog training activities authorized under the permit are restricted to Tribal lands only.
  • All trainers, helpers, and participants are required to comply with applicable Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Game & Fish Department rules and regulations.
